KWISP is the wireless broadband division of KWOM, a Chicago ISP since 1996. Using tower based radios, we provide high-speed Internet access to people who can't get DSL or cable. For businesses, we offer performance similar to T1 at a fraction of the price. Our sole focus is high speed Internet service. We are not a phone company, cable company or computer store offering Internet as one more service on a network designed for something else. KWISP wireless broadband is an extremely fast, reliable, secure service with a range of 5-10 miles if you have clear line-of-sight to one of our towers. It is far better than other wireless technologies like WiFi hotspots, PCS mobile Internet, or satellite Internet. See our FAQ for a more detailed comparison to these technologies. Our wireless coverage area includes northern LaSalle county, southern DeKalb county, and parts of Kane and Ogle counties. We have towers with multiple sectors of 5GHz Trango or Canopy radios in Leland, Waterman and Lee. We also have 802.11b equipment originally deployed by CBSI in the DeKalb area.
